Lorraine graduated from Dalhousie in 1977. She began her work at the St. John’s Grace Hospital, then on to the Calgary Holy Cross Hospital. She returned to St. John’s in 1980 worked in private practice and in 1983, she opened Nova Physiotherapy with colleague Josephine Crossan.
She has a special interest with sports and orthopaedics, working with several teams and athletes on a provincial and national level over the course of her career. She has also served 15 years as a Doping Control Officer for the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport.
She had completed numerous post graduate courses in manual therapy, electrotherapy, acupuncture, sports physiotherapy, muscle retaining and McKenzie courses and is trained in canine rehabilitation.
In her spare time, she has been a member of various professional committees in the past 25 years. She is involved in the Newfoundland and Labrador Sailing Association and the junior sailing program at the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club. She is also an avid skier, hiker and sailor and enjoys outdoor activities.
